Bathroom

The bathroom is attached to the bedroom, making it only accessible through the bedroom. Hence, the presence of two entry points into the bedroom serves guests well as those using the kitchen can still access the bathroom easily without having to take a tour around the entire apartment.

I believe that the first impression that most guests will have about the bathroom is that it is a simple rectangular box that is uninteresting. Common tiles line the floor and walls of the bathroom, and a different mosaic styled wall make up one side of the bathroom. However, I noticed instantly that though it seems uninteresting, the bathroom is actually decently sized with sufficient space for two to be in it at the same time. On closer inspection, I also realized that the tiles are in fact very clean and it clearly shows the effort put into maintaining the place. Though the bathroom is nice in general, I feel that it is a tad too dull due to the colour scheme chosen. Also, the lack of windows or natural lighting makes it slightly claustrophobic for users.

Due to the limited space, guests have a two in one shower cum bathtub and I thought that this idea was practical and smart. Guests can have a choice of showering or soaking in the bathtub without having to sacrifice space or pay a premium to upgrade to a larger apartment. Should you choose to take a standing shower, there is a non-slip mat rolled neatly and placed by the side of the bathtub. This shows the thoughtfulness of Adina Apartment Hotel and the non-slip mat almost totally eliminates the risk of guests -especially aged or young ones- injuring themselves and ruining a perfect holiday. The only thing which I did not like and I though was a slight safety hazard was the tap used to fill the bathtub, which is located by the side of the tub. It sticks out awkwardly like a sore thumb and unwary guest could potentially knock against the tap, resulting in some bruises. On a side note, the lack of shower curtains or a sliding glass door means that guests taking showers can potentially splash a good amount of water on the floor outside the bathtub. Hence my advice would be to stay close to the front end of the bathtub when taking a shower so that the fixed glass panel can prevent excessive water spillage, which is not a comfortable happening.

The toilet and sink are also pretty normal looking and do not stand out in any way at all. As like any hotel or serviced apartments, there are plenty of necessary amenities provided free of charge. Adina Apartment Hotel Bondi Beach provides toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, bath gel and soap and these are from TFE group’s own Spa line of products. There are also plenty of towel that serve every purpose and I actually appreciate the fact that there is a bar installed for guests to hang a hand drying towel – something that many hotels over the world often overlook. A bottle of drinking water is also placed by the sink and I suppose that is for guests who prefer not to use the tap water when brushing their teeth. Female guests will also appreciate the vanity mirror, which feather triple joints, allowing it to be moved and manipulated to assist in the application of make up.

Finally, there is ample storage room in the bathroom located under the sink and some of the drawers hold amenities such as spare toilet paper and a powerful hair dryer. The copious amount of storage space makes it easy for long term guests to keep their toiletries and this is another reflection of the practicality and thoughtfulness ingrained into Adina Apartment Hotel Bondi Beach.

The apartment itself is generally a very nice and comfortable place to stay in and guests who wish to stay for a longer period of time shouldn’t have any problems adapting to the environment there. After all, Adina Apartment Hotel Bondi Beach makes sure that guests needs are well met and this makes the experience with them a pleasant and convenient one. The apartments are all well sized and well equipped and should not be too different from the average home. Tourists will surely find it a joy to rest in such an apartment after a long day out on the beach. The only group of guests who I think might not have their needs fully met are business travelers as the apartment lacks business tools such as a work desk, stationery and even wifi is chargeable. Even so, this shouldn’t pose a big problem as the location of Adina Apartment Bondi Beach is not one that business travelers will normally visit.

Facilities

Being a rather small apartment complex, Adina Apartment Hotel Bondi Beach does not have the facilities that you would normally expect from a full fledged 5 star luxury hotel. However, you can expect to have the basic facilities such as a swimming pool, gym and meeting rooms.

The swimming pool is located on the ground floor of the apartment complex, tucked into a quiet corner, making it a good choice of location for guest that wish to get some peace and quiet. The pool itself is rather small, being about 15 meters in length but a shelter is built over it, making it accessible and usable regardless of rain or shine. Due to its limited size, it surely cannot fit too many guests at one time there will be an overcrowding problem should guests from numerous apartments choose to take a swim at the pool at the same time. However, the pool is often quiet and empty despite the Adina Apartment Hotel Bondi Beach being usually full booked. This is not because the pool is unpleasant to use, but it is simply because the main attraction of the area is Bondi Beach. Simply put, why head to the pool when one of Australia’s most popular beaches is just a stone’s throw away! Then again, the underutilized pool makes for a nice quiet place for guests who want to avoid the crowds and the sun.

Also in the same area is a small round Jacuzzi which at best can only fit four comfortably. However, the warm bubbly water makes it an excellent place for guest to sit in and socialize – perfect for couples to enjoy some quiet time together or for small groups of friends to have a chit chat session. There are also plenty of sunbeds for guests who wish to get a tan without having to head to the beach and risk getting covered with sand.

There is also a fitness center located on the hotel grounds, though it is rather small. There are sufficient weights and machines around, and guests who wish to do some cardiovascular workout can do so using the reasonable range of equipment. The gym is usually quiet and empty as well and there will be no worry about having to compete with other guests for the use of equipment.

Adina Apartment Hotel also offers the use of one meeting room, which can seat up to 20 people. The meeting room has a clean and simple design and looks comfortable enough to be used for meetings that last a couple of ours. It can be booked and used at a price and basic meeting necessities are provided. However, Adina Apartment Hotel is not exactly a hotel catered for business travelers and thus, I would say that the meeting room and its associated equipment are all quite rudimentary.

I must say that one of the weakest spots of Adina Apartment Hotel Bondi Beach is in its facilities. Compared to many other four star hotels and serviced apartments, Adina Apartment Hotel Bondi Beach probably offers the least and one of the smallest in sized facilities. This does not mean that the facilities are unusable, but anyone who wishes to spend a day in the hotel making use of the facilities will be bored quickly. The pool and gym are unable to satisfy fitness buffs and the meeting room will not be equipped sufficiently to hold a large scale meeting. These facilities are not there for heavy usage but are instead there to meet any impulsive or casual needs. With that being said, the lack of facilities should not cause heavy penalization to the hotel as after all, guests lodging there will and should spend their time out of the hotel exploring Bondi Beach and the rest of Hall Street instead of just lounging in their apartments or on the complex. With that in mind I feel that the presence of such facilities is actually a nice bonus for guests.

Our Take[divider]

Adina Apartment Hotel Bondi Beach is in no way as luxurious as 5 star branded hotels over Sydney and all over the world. You will not get to see gold plated furniture, gargantuan chandeliers and lavish marble clad lobbies and rooms. However, it is just as luxurious in other ways. The apartments are pretty affordable, with rates starting at about AUD$270 for a night in this 4 star hotel.  The TFE group is well known for their hospitable accommodation places and I think Adina Apartment Hotel Bondi Beach fits well into the group’s wide family. Guests can expect to have a pampering stay at a nice location, where their apartment will feel just like home and the surroundings has all they need for an exciting holiday. The simplicity and practicality of each apartment adds value to each guests’ stay and provides a ton of convenience. Tourists who wish to visit Bondi Beach for a surfing vacation or just to check out the happening area around the famed beach should definitely give Adina Apartment Hotel Bondi Beach a consideration.
