Le Meridien Jakarta

 

The bathroom was luxurious and the interior was superior to many that I have seen before. It was almost fully clad in glossy and well polished marble, giving it a tinge of class and glamour. With both a bathtub and a shower, guests are spoilt for choice when it comes to cleaning themselves. The sink was the only thing in the bathroom to my distaste, as the sink top looked aged. Furthermore, the mirrors and the lighting was unpleasant. As you can see from the photos above, the lighting along the frame of the mirror was exposed. This gave the sing area a shoddy appearance and just did not enhance the luxurious feel so nicely emphasized by the rest of the bathroom.

I also enjoyed using the toiletries from Cinq Mondes, a well known French spa brand. However, the bottles were small in size and contained not much in them. Thankfully, toiletries are re-stocked everyday.

However, the vanity mirror in the bathroom looked old and used, and was a little  squeaky when moved around. Also, there was a hair dryer available but it was placed on the wall – an old fashioned way- instead of kept neatly in a drawer and placed inside a dust bag. Besides these minor issues, I was very much satisfied with the bathroom.

The Club Lounge is only accessible by club guests, and has a high level of exclusivity. The interior of the Club Lounge features well spaced tables and chairs which are comfortable to sit in.

The entrance to the Club Lounge looked and felt kind of grand. The majestic pillars and carpets with intricate details on them made the Club Lounge seem more like an olden Indonesian palace, giving guests a sense of what royalty is like. At the same time, the use of plants also gave it a Asian feel which I liked as I thought that it reflected the hotel’s roots and country, but yet offers a luxurious entrance to Club guests. The entire area was also of a reasonable size enough to fit many Club guests without making anyone feel claustrophobic. However, I felt that there could be more sofas and coffee tables instead of so many standard table and chairs, as after all, it was a lounge and not a restaurant. In this aspect, I felt that the lounge lacked some cosiness. Furthermore, the same colour tones run throughout the lounge, making it look boring after some time in there.

One privilege of being a club guest is that you get to enjoy refreshments at the Club Lounge at no charge and not forgetting, free breakfast as well.

I must say the breakfast spread at the Club Lounge in Le Meridien Jakarta was definitely one of the biggest and most generous ones that I have seen. There was a sumptuous array of different cuisines, including a selection of fresh bread and muffins, cereal, and Asian dim sum. For the health conscious, there were even assorted fruits and  low fat yoghurt available. On top of this, guests have the luxury choosing some delectable breakfast selections from a separate menu.

With such an assortment of breakfast delights, guests can expect to be filled with their hearts content. Furthermore, Le Meridien is not a hotel known for trading quantity with quality and thus, you can be assured that the breakfast tastes just as nice.

Le Meridien Jakarta is definitely a luxurious hotel living up to its 5 star reputation. With a wonderful club lounge, I would say that you can make the best out of your stay by booking the Club Room. With its unrivalled accessibility to countless corporate offices, Le Meridien Jakarta would also be one of the best choices for businessmen with appointments in Jakarta. However, those who have to busy themselves in their rooms should go prepared with their own stationery and other equipment they would need as the work desk is disappointingly sparse. Other than that, Le Meridien Jakarta is a wonderful hotel to stay in, though tourists who prefer visiting places of attractions and doing more shopping might want to consider other hotels which are more proximate to their intended destinations.
