Bathroom

The bathroom bore the same purple tones as seen in the bed area, albeit being drafted with a more contemporary look.

Marble and white glossy tiles lavishly envelope the whole bathroom, making it feel luxurious. There were both a bathtub and a standing shower, so guests can choose to have a quick shower or have a comfortable spa in the tub. However, the bathtub is placed next to a glass window, which means that you will be able to see the bed from the toilet and vice versa. This design is only suitable for couples, but thankfully, there is a blind which can be lowered and this solves the problem for the shy. The shower area was however, a little on the small side and plus sized guests might find it uncomfortable to use the shower.

Another thing that I really enjoyed about the bathroom was the attention to detail and the little things that were included for my convenience. The toiletries were nicely packaged, and on top of the usual toiletries like shampoo and soap, the hotel went the extra mile to even provide a facial cleanser, lotion and mouth wash. Not only does it add convenience, it also benefits those on short trips as they would not have to pack any of their own toiletries (except maybe for ladies).

There was only one thing that left me scratching my head. That being, why was the complimentary bottled water place in the bathroom instead of the pantry or minibar? I found this a little strange and those who are very hygiene conscious (or with OCDs) probably would find this sight distasteful.

Facilities

As with all the fancy names given to its facilities, the pool is dubbed “Wet Outdoor Pool”.

The pool area has a nice open design and is rather spacious. There is a bar available, called the Island Bar and it serves beach-y cocktails and refreshing drinks to guests at a fee. There is even a live DJ present at certain times in the night to spin lively and adrenaline-pumping music. The pool can really get transformed into a huge partying arena where all guests can mingle and just have fun. However, the pool gets really crowded at times and when the live DJ is spinning, there is almost no chance for guests to enjoy a relaxing night swim. Perhaps they should have separate pools so that guests can have the option of having a wild pool party or a comfortable dip.

The fitness centre, named Fit, is located adjacent to a quiet and spacious lobby area. Fit is an extremely large gym and is definitely the biggest one that I have seen so far. It boasts a plethora of state of the art equipment, including those rarely seen in hotel gyms, like squat racks, bench press, smith machines, heavy weight plates and smith machines. What’s even more amazing is that the gym offers personal training for guests who are willing to fork out a little more. The reason for this spectacular gym is partially due to the presence of residential units, whereby guests and residents share the same facilities. That being said, the gym does get rather crowded during peal hours like in the evening even with its gargantuan floor area.

W hotel Singapore also bears numerous dining facilities. With 2 restaurants and 2 bars, guests will be able to have all their meals in the hotel and not get sick of the same foods. One of the restaurant, Skirt, is also prominent for its steak, and has received numerous accolades on food blogs.

Architecture

One thing that you will surely notice about the hotel is the heavy usage of artwork and unique decor around the hotel.

I believe all these adds excitement to the whole experience at W hotel and create a very special and fun environment that is not found in other hotels. This is probably what sets W hotel out as a top tier boutique hotel.

Our Take

W Hotel Singapore is indubitably a entertaining and exciting place to live in. With its one of a kind themes and designs, unique interiors and modern amenities, W Hotel could just be the top chain of Boutique hotels. Guests staying here can expect a very enjoyable and impressive time unlike at any other hotel. Our suggestion is that tourist who want tot explore Sentosa island should give this hotel a try. However, those who just want to shop or experience other areas of Singapore can probably give this a miss, or just limit the stay here to a shorter one. After all, the hotel does seem to get overcrowded at times and the dim lightings at night doesn’t exactly make you feel at home. Also, older guests who are not exactly adventurous might not like the setting that the hotel offers. Otherwise, W Hotel is definitely worth a try and it would be best to immerse yourself in a short getaway there.
