Bathroom

The favourite part of the room for me was in fact the bathroom. This bathroom was really impressive and beautifully designed for luxury, practicality and comfort of the guests. It was spacious and had both a shower area and a bathtub, which was located right beside the window. This gives guests an opportunity to have a relaxing soak in the bathtub and enjoy the city view at the same time. For the privacy concious, fret not as the are blinds attached to the windows so you can choose to close the blinds should you feel uncomfortable soaking by the window. The shower even came with a temperature control tap, which had markings to guide you to turn the tap so as to select the temperature of the water you desire. Such luxury is rarely seen and this made showering at Le Meridien a pleasure, as I did not have to experience the frustration of trying to find the optimum point for water temperature and the pain of irregular water temperatures.

The only negative point about the bathroom was that it was slightly too old fashioned for a luxury 5 star hotel like Le Meridien. The tiles on the wall were plain and dated and this, combined with the seemingly out of trend marbling on the sink seemed to give away the age of the room. Even though this does not inconvenience guests nor does it rob the bathroom of its class and beauty, I still feel that the management should probably consider re-designing the bathrooms and add a modern touch to it.

Lounge

The free upgrade to a Club room also meant that I could enjoy free breakfast at the Club Lounge, which offered an assortment of breakfast favourites and a fantastic view of the city of Kuala Lumpur. The food spread is probably slightly less than what you would get for breakfast at the main restaurant but the quality of the food is definitely not poorer than the main restaurant. Furthermore, the Club Lounge offers a more private and exclusive place for breakfast dining, and it gives you a quiet way to start your day, as there is a lack of crowd and noise. However, do take note that if you are staying for a festive season such as Christmas or New Year, be prepared to face a larger crowd, as the rooms tend to be fully booked during these periods. Below are some images taken during my breakfast at the club lounge.

However, the main seating area of the club lounge does feel a bit dated, with seemingly old fashioned wooden sofas and a somewhat dull painting. That aside, the club lounge is still rather comfortable and adequate for a short meal or tea break.

Finally, there is one final downside to this hotel that i would like to mention. Le Meridien KL is located right beside Hilton Hotel KL. Due to the close proximity of these two hotels, they unfortunately share some of their facilities, such as the fitness centre. Even though the facilities were well maintained, this sharing of facilities between two huge hotels, both with many rooms means that facilities such as the gym is usually very crowded. Guests would have to queue to use the facilities and I am sure that those who wish to get a serious workout would not be too pleased. This also robs away the luxury of calm and tranquillity from guests and deprives many of their chance to enjoy the facilities to the fullest.

Our Take

Other than some minor downsides, such as the slightly old fashioned structures in some areas of the hotel, the Le Meridien KL is a fantastic hotel that lives up to its five star reputation. With the convenient location, this hotel is really suitable for all types of travellers visiting Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. All guests will definitely appreciate the relatively private and exclusive environment that this hotel has to offer. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in this hotel and I am sure that many of you will do as well.
